Denise Maurer of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Rensselaer Co. will present a video detailing various techniques to create stunning and useful container gardens by matching plants with appropriate containers.

NGC Master Judges Liz Gee and Carol English will demonstrate tips on how to construct some of the Flower Show designs.

Liz Gee, Carol English and Flower Show Committee Chairs will finalize plans for the July 11th-12th Flower Show.

July 8, 2026 "Mindfulness and Relaxation"

SGC member Sharon Gavitt, a certified yoga instructor, will lead a session of mindful meditation and relaxation to prepare for the demands of the upcoming Flower Show.

August 12, 2026 at 12:00 NOON Field Trip: "Walking Through The Lavender Meadows"

 Location: Lavender Meadows Farm, 2586 State Route 40, Greenwich, NY .  Please bring your own bag lunch and beverage. 

Terry Tyler, owner of Lavender Meadows Farm, will give us a private tour of the beautiful lavender fields and explain the decorative and culinary uses of this fragrant herb.

September 9, 2026 "Decorating with Fall Plants"

Jessica Luse of Saratoga Co., Cornell Cooperative Extension will discuss concepts and examples of decor that highlight the sunlight, textures and colors of fall.  Jessica will also present ways to utilize these design concepts in fall plantings.

October 14, 2026 at 12:00 NOON Field Trip & Workshop: "The Art of Pressed Botanicals"

Location: Tiashoke Farm & Store, 11834 NYS Route 40, Schaghticoke (Easton), NY. Lunches will be pre-ordered from their kitchen. Beth Murphy, a local pressed botanical artist, will discuss pressing botanicals for cards, collages, fabrics and wall hangings. instruct us on how to create a pressed botanical laminated bookmark.  A craft fee of $5 will be collected at our September meeting.

November 11, 2026 Workshop - "Creating Your Own Miniature Holiday Boxwood Tree"

Tim Healy , award-winning flower designer and owner of Posie Peddler florist in Saratoga, will guide us in the creation of a holiday tree using boxwood. Participants should bring tiny ornaments, mini battery operated lights, ribbons or any other things to decorate their trees. A $25 material fee will be collected at the October meeting.

December 9, 2026 at 12:00 NOON Holiday Party and Gift Exchange

Location: Wishing Well Restaurant, 75 Saratoga Rd., Ganesvoort. This fun event will bring us all together for a memorable afternoon of good food, good company and games. Please bring a donation to support a cause chosen at our November meeting.

January 13, 2027 "Basics of Composting"

Our presenter, Sander Bonvell of Earth View Environmental, will share details on how to get started making compost to amend our garden soil. Sander will also explain the environmental benefits of composting by turning yard and food waste into compost.

February 10, 2027 "The Past, Present and Future of Yaddo in Saratoga Springs"

Through a Power Point presentation Leslie LeDuc, President of Yaddo Gardens, will talk about the rich history of the gardens, how they are maintained, and the future projects planned for this gem of Saratoga Springs.

March 10 2027 at 12:00 NOON Annual Covered Dish Winter Picnic Luncheon & Installation of Officers

Each member will bring a dish to share. Please bring your own place setting and beverage. Following lunch, District IV Director Mary Lou Baker will address the club and install officers for the 2027-2029 term.
